Do We Really Change Or Do We Just Forget Who We Really Are?
There will always be that part of you that will stay the same no matter what
Last night, as I was cleaning up some files from my external hard drive, I found some old stuff of mine that I’d totally forgotten about. When I checked the date of the files, it was created back in 2009. That’s more than 13 years ago.
The files in question were songs that I wrote, composed, and recorded. As I played them, memories just came flooding back and I could clearly remember using my old Nokia E63 to record the MP3 files, and playing the songs on my old $50 acoustic guitar.
It was so long ago that I haven’t even met my wife yet at that time.
My voice was obviously out of tune, squeaking here and there but the sheer joy and pleasure that I remembered as I was playing and recording those songs were clear to hear — and felt.
I was so excited that I quickly took my laptop to my wife and played it for her.
We both had a good laugh at how young and silly I sounded but she also asked me a question that really hit home with me.
“Why don’t you do this anymore?”
