I think I did mention his age in the article, he's 7, turning 8 this year.

And I agree with you that in today's day and age, anytime a child is just slightly different from what a supposedly 'normal' child is, they're suddenly on the spectrum or given a label.

I think that's why my son's specialist encouraged us to not put a label on him but to just focus on areas that he may be lacking or slightly behind in and help him with that. While he may be deemed to be on the spectrum, is lacking slightly behind from his peers, he's still an incredibly smart kid and the story of how your son seemed to be like that as well but went out to get his PhD, etc., just shows that we don't always need to put a label on children that may be different and just accept that every child is different.

It's the ones who are more severe (like your grandson) who truly display very obvious symptoms that we may need to properly diagnose so that they can receive the necessary help, as well as support for the parents. I pray for all the best for your grandson and his parents.
