It really depends on the writer. Honestly, if the opportunity ever comes where I am able to make Medium or my writing as my fulltime income, I probably would.

For the time being, I do have a fulltime job and I’m just writing as something on the side because it’s my passion. The fact that I’m even able to earn is amazing enough. I feel a lot of writers feel that way too.

And yes, the best chance is to write a lot and write well. :)
