FEELINGS & EMOTIONS
You Should Never Bottle Up Your Feelings For Too Long
The last few days were filled with a bit of drama for me and my family. A family member that we are very close with had an emotional outburst on one of our family messaging groups and we’ve not been able to get through to him since then.
Follow-up messages have gone unread and unanswered, and so have our calls to him.
All of this is because of a joke that was taken the wrong way and pent-up emotions that built up over time and finally reached their limit.
This is the consequence of what can happen if you bottle up your feelings for too long and don’t give yourself an outlet/space to just let it all out so that you don’t feel overwhelmed by emotions.
Human beings were not made to be a container where we just keep everything inside. Just like how things can overflow or explode once it reaches its maximum capacity, it’s the same thing with human emotions. Once we reach our maximum capacity, we will either overflow or explode.
In the case of my family member above, he kinda exploded rather than overflowed, and that’s pretty serious.
